Christmas For Your Burundian Sister
It's only November, we know. But time is running out to send a Christmas gift to your sister in Burundi.
Monetary gifts for your widow and her family are cherished at this time of the year. Any amount is appreciated and the full amount you give will go to the widow(s) you sponsor.
You may also designate additional amounts to be distributed to widows who don't receive gifts from their sponsors. Simply designate your gift to the “Christmas fund” and the extra amounts will be given accordingly.
Gifts must be received by November 20 to reach your sister in time for Christmas.
Here is an idea of what can be purchased in the Burundi economy:
$5 - a chicken
$5-10 - shoes for adults & children
$10-15 - a cooking pot
$10 - a new outfit for a child
$15 - a new outfit for a widow
$30 - a goat
A Burundian Christmas tradition is to celebrate with a special dinner, serving "luxury" food like chicken. Many of our widows have used Christmas gift funds to prepare just such a meal for their children.
If you would like to celebrate Christmas with your widow, gifts can be given through the same method by which you pay your sponsorship.
Click here and select the "Widow Sponsorship Form." Write in the amount you'd like to give and indicate which widow(s) the gift should be directed to. If you'd like to contribute to the general Christmas fund, simply write "Christmas fund".
Again, remember that gifts must be received by November 20 to reach your sister in time for Christmas.
