Children's Camp 2009: "The Way to God"

Singing, dancing, praying, listening. Drums, games, crafts, lots to eat. Dramatizing stories, memorizing scripture, sleeping on foam mattresses instead of mats, letting their hearts be molded by the Spirit of God.

Sister Connection children were overjoyed to have their first camp, and within a few days of getting home started asking their moms when they could return for another camp. The camp was conducted by 10 Burundian young adults, 5 of whom are children of our Social Workers--such strong and studied followers of Jesus who have a true love for their fellow orphans.

In their own words, this is what the children loved most about camp:

  • Teaching about salvation, that God loves them like a father
  • Teaching on obedience and a call to honor their moms
  • Drama
  • Singing and dancing
  • Games
  • Being in a new place with lots of children
  • Gifts: school bags and toothbrushes

They loved it all!

Learning that God isn't waiting for them to grow up in order to have a relationship with them, the Sister Connection kids responded powerfully to the teachings about His purpose for their lives. Many children repented of the sins of lying, stealing, and disobedience to their moms/guardians. Being together with hundreds of children who are orphaned (fatherless=orphaned in Burundi) was edifying and encouraging to these little ones, as they were able to experience the level ground at the feet of Jesus. Society pushes them to a corner; Sister Connection embraces them in His love.

Because you gave of your resources, because you prayed, 262 children had a blast as they experienced healing, dignity and hope.

Camp Stats:
All 7-12 year olds in SC were invited
