Camps and Seminars
In a country missing an entire generation of leadership, God is raising up new leaders through Sister Connection camps and training seminars. These programs include a wide range of topics including: Spiritual Formation, Leadership Development, HIV/AIDS Prevention, Continuing Education, Trauma Recovery, Children & Youth Ministry, and Reconciliation.
Your support helps break the cycle of poverty and dependency by providing educational experiences that will transform lives. The self-sustainability of widows and orphans is our ultimate goal.
Widows’ National Retreat
Bringing all Sister Connection widows together for a yearly retreat is as critical to their well-being as are efforts to feed, clothe and shelter them. This 2-1/2 day retreat allows widows to gather in worship, prayer, and teaching, and to remind them they are not alone. Special topics include trauma recovery and general health.
Widows to attend: 450

Youth Camp
These multi-day camps are for Sister Connection youth between the ages of 13 and 26 -- the next generation of Burundians. Over 1000 young people come together for teaching, sharing, playing, singing, dancing, and healing. The camp includes practical training, such as how to respond like Jesus to the temptations around them.
Youth to attend: 1,200
Cost: $36,000 ($30 per youth)

Children’s Camp
The children’s camp, which runs simultaneous with the Widows’ Retreat, is for all Sister Connection children ages 6 to 12. Structured like a traditional VBS, the 2-day camp includes singing, puppets, stories, crafts, play...hugs, laughter, and the healing of little hearts. The message to children is that "Jesus loves you!" and "You are not too young to make an impact."
Children to attend: 200+ (every Sister Connection child aged 6-12)

Leadership Seminar
The Sister Connection Leadership Seminar is for our current social workers and those being trained for this role. Most social workers are widows themselves and have grown into leadership and mentoring roles within the Sister Connection organization. These women are on the front line, assisting the national staff in Burundi, in the daily details of the ministry. The 2-day Leadership Seminar uses a "train the trainer" approach and focuses on trauma recovery, health and wellness, and spiritual renewal.
